Many financial institutions in the countries of Central Asia are engaged in agro-lending, as agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the economy, which employs the majority of the working-age population. However, as opposed to the trade, services and manufacturing sectors, agriculture has clearly pronounced specifics.

The purpose of the “Agrilending specifics” course is to familiarize users with the unique basic features of agriculture and the main specifics of the work of loan officers when dealing with individual farmers and small agricultural enterprises.

The course targets a variety of experts and mid-level managers of financial institutions working with clients of the agricultural sector who already have basic knowledge of micro and small business lending. If not, it is recommended to start by undergoing the “Microlending Basics” course.

As a result of this course, you will:

  • gain information about characteristics of the agricultural sector of Central Asia;
  • learn about specifics of crop production and livestock farming that specialists working with agro clients should know;
  • learn about possible approaches to the analysis of farmers and small agro enterprises;
  • learn cross-checking specifics relevant for agro clients;
  • study main accounting specifics of agricultural enterprises;
  • study existing approaches to compilation of financial statements;
  • learn about major risks faced by agricultural producers;
  • learn about main approaches to risk optimization in agro-lending.

The course consists of 7 lessons grouped into 3 sections.

Each lesson is designed to take 45 minutes or less to complete.

Upon completion of the course, you will be offered to take the final test. Based on the results of the test, an electronic statement of course completion will be generated.
